Now, I don't subscribe and I have only the last 2 months to judge, perhaps these were Bad Hair months for Chris. But at least 4 times we were warned by Chris Parker subscribers that "there was a big blow coming, Chris Parker says so" kind of like it was coming down from the Oracle of Delphi. And these people hunkered down for several days to wait it out. The first 2 times I was suckered. On each occasion, GRIB files and the free Windfinder website (based on GRIBs) were considerably more accurate than the Chris Parker forecast (which were not as severe nor as long lasting as Chris predicted).
Also on a sample of one: in our frustration with the weather leaving the US, I bought a Commander's Weather cruisers forecast with routing advice. This agreed with the Gribs for the first day and a half, then as both aged beyond that they got quite inaccurate - except the Gribs could be updated to current and continued to be pretty accurate for a day or two out. By the third day, had we followed Commander's routing advice we would have been in exactly the wrong place, as the wind was about 180 deg from their prediction.
I don't envy these guys the task of attempting to predict the very unpredictable. But in my limited experience they did no better that free sources, and in Chris Parker's case, somewhat worse.
