it safe. I was kind of "crash and bang" back in the day. I often thought that if I ever ran across an old Red Wing that I might set it up only to be used if I was planning to stay a month or so but now that I have so much solar that it's a mute point. I had a SS tower made that holds the generator but also holds the 3 GPS antennas, the E-mail long range antenna, the man overboard recovery block and tackle, blue LED anchor light and the fishing pole holder. It's fun until you have to polish it. Your towed unit should do really well on an off shore passage. In shore along the pacific I suspect that you might pick up so much seaweed that it might be a problem. I say this only because I used to tow a "Walker Log" that caught just about everything that grew in or was tossed upon the sea. Off shore I think towed generator would be a hoot and I'll bet it can really develop some toque.
