Hmmm, well, I believe a 3 yr olds life, contained on a boat with parents, would be improved.

That is, as long as nothing too bad happens, no storms are encountered, and no one onboard gets hurt. That's parents-both-, and child, 24-7. I'll bet that would be an unforgetable time for that family. It also is a testament to their relationship(parents), I think.

Compare that to the same child spending 8 hours a day in a day care, seeing little of both parents-together-in the evenings, living the typical gender split parental roles most kids grow up in.

However, I will say it could be very difficult. We only did it for 4 months with the longest sails being across the Gulf stream to the Bahamas a couple of times. At times it was very hard for that short stint. On our way home, we sailed offshore with the intent of reaching far up the coast. However, we had to detour into Charleston. We were out of disposable diapers(true).
