Shaft-log seepage?

I'd be very surprised if that boat isn't in tip-top shape, or was when it left port. Eric has posted at http://www.cruisersforum.com for years, under the screen name Rebel Heart, and is very knowledgeable and is also one to think and plan ahead. He's also a family man who would be inclined to do everything possible to protect his loved ones. It's possible they had a failure or breakage they couldn't handle but he's a guy who'd carry reasonable spares/tools/manuals and know how to fix most things. These things were mentioned at the end of the story but only after the reporter highlighted some "sensationalist" little details.

I think this is yet another case of bullshit reporting and hype from the news networks.
