A Kiwi friend told us about a simple, inexpensive device that my wife is really looking forward to having aboard. You can make your own yogurt with nothing but a packet of mix and water. Here in the US the packets are a bit pricey, but you can substitute powdered milk along with a Tablespoon of yogurt from a previous batch, or apparently with a Tablespoon of mix from the packet. (The first customer comment at Amazon describes this alternate method).

My wife has been trying it out here at home and the yogurt is as good as store bought. No connection to the company, but I think it 's a really neat concept.
