The sailboat doesn't take that much work, but it does take some. I launch this coming Wednesday, so I will be doing a few boat projects over the next 5 days. The 1936 wood powerboat does require a lot of work. I just finished installing planks 5 and 6 today and have four more to look forward to. That should take about three days since one plank has half a port inset in it. Once the plank repairs are done I will have a few days of painting and varnishing to do (painting topsides and bottom and varnishing the cabin house. What has been killing my back is cutting scarf bevels into planks on the hull. Each scarf bevel means about 30-40 minutes of working with the router at an uncomfortable level. What I need is a lighter router .
What takes effort for me is that I do 100% of the work on both boats with the exception of actually launching. I am 50% of the crew for launching. I may have to consider hiring some of the work done, but will probably decide to sell the boats before I do that.
