Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

I get my son to help, if he's around in November.

At haul out time.

That doesn't work for many sailors and it won't work with most dinghys.

Last season I towed EVE(9'6" Joel White Nutshell) downwind in nearly 40 knots, overnight across the Gulf of Maine, in as big a sea as I've seen in 20+ years of coastal sailing.

Not ideal, but she shipped about a quart of water and really tested her 1/2" braided painter. That is the worst towing condition our dinghy will EVER see,...again!

And in light air she's like towing a leaf.
