Main halyard.

Or maybe the spinnaker halyard..
Clip onto one of the side rings of the dingy and hoist it over the lifelines, securing it on the foredeck. No attempt to lift it flat. It takes up a LOT of room, so this is only done for offshore/overnight passages. We usually tow the dingy without engine. Engine is only 28#(2 HP Honda), so it's a one hand lift to the stern rail.
Going for a day sail, no dingy. If we're going for one night, we try and figure whether we'll want/need the dingy - answer is usually NO. Wife has problems with her feet (handicap parking) and really has trouble getting in/out of it using the ladder. She'd probably find it easier jumping in the water and then pulling herself into the dingy. I haven't suggested using the halyard hoist for her??
