I never thought of using it for this purpose. I have to take them off to re-bed them anyhow.

TD, one of the big reasons I leave mine on is access to the nuts. I know I can get to the nuts on the two I need to take off. The rest are a mystery, at least at this point. Perhaps removing some of the teak trim down below. Fyi, this is only the second winter with this frame setup. My toe rail does not allow for the bracing I have used on previous boats. That is on my list for the fall.
