I detect a faint whiff of bullshit on this one... (grin)

Hi Bruce,

There was some clarification on a report from NBC's Tom Costello this morning... The boat had "capsized" or rolled on 3 different occasions (gotta love the line from the report, "It was not yet known why the boat capsized") For a guy who had supposedly been subsisting on rainwater and raw fish, he looked remarkably fit, to me... I doubt Steve Callahan looked anything like that after his ordeal, the crew on that German ship must have cleaned him up good... (grin)

The main thing that arouses my suspicion, is his final position after supposedly being off the coast of NC for 2 months... Hell, a message in a bottle would have been halfway to Ireland by that time (grin) Departing from Winyah Bay, and floating around in such close proximity to the Stream for all that time, his final position off Hatteras just doesn't add up, for me...

The guy had a series of posts last year on Cruiser's Forum... It's quite obvious from some that have been linked to that he didn't have a freakin' CLUE about sailing...

But perhaps more than anything, what raises my suspicions, is the fact that he had been living aboard prior to this trip at Bucksport Marina... I think anyone who's ever been to Bucksport might catch my drift... (grin)

Obviously, he was out there, no way that could have been faked... I'm simply finding it a bit hard to believe he might have actually been "at sea" for 66 days... Plenty of places along that part of the SC coast he could have holed up for awhile and 'disappeared', before eventually making his way out into the ocean... Hell, he could have settled in among the squatters in the blue tarp crowd in the anchorage off Georgetown, and nobody would have even noticed...

It should be interesting to see whatever details might 'emerge' from this one... I did read in one report, that there had been various reports of unconfirmed "sightings" after he had been officially declared missing or overdue, for instance... Call me cynical or skeptical, but I think there might be more to this one that initially meets the eye... (grin)

BTW, did you hear about the 2 guys who were plucked off their old Colin Archer design by the CG the other day, after she snapped her mast and "floundered" 90 miles off Chincoteague? LMAO!
