I wondered about his slow progress to the northeast . . .

then I found this:

If he were fairly close inshore when he lost propulsion, etc., he could have drifted south for a while before getting snagged in the Stream.
I still think he looks a bit healthy for having been adrift for 66 days, but at least he had a cabin for shelter. But think of all the fronts and storms that have passed over that area in the past two months!
