one stuck half way in. Then you have to figure out how to get it back out and re-presses in. That happened to me once when the yard didn't get it right. They destroyed a brand new bearing getting it back out. They probably would have tried to reused it if I wasn't standing watching. It was clearly damaged. I also saw a yard guy get one stuck with an inch left sticking out and he just cut it off. It wasn't my boat and the owner wasn't around. The next day when I got to the yard the boat was in the water and I never saw the owner. I'm not sure I would have told him because it was too late and I wouldn't have wanted to spoil his day. Then their was the time when I saw a yard pull the rubber out of an old bearing and press in a new cutless bearing using the old metal part of the bearing as a reducing bushing because they didn't have the right size new bearing. That's why I spend so much time in the yard when my boat is being worked on. Get it right the first time and if you get all the burrs and the corrosion cleaned up you should be OK but I would still set it up to press it in.
