I'm not too sure how well the "cutting" at the machine shop will affect the lining of the cutlass bearing.

If you're using cutlass bearing with a water cooled (ribbed) Duraflex-type insert, I'd would ask about the "heat" and the liner. The same would go for a non vented liner -- maybe more so.
