but instead of Gene power there is a 12v motor coupled to a gearbox that operates the lever and the diaphragm. We had one on our Islander but it was plumbed into the shower sump. That was my backup to the two bilge pumps, a couple of hose clamps and the hose would drop down into the bilge.

Downside to them is your boat budget will take a hit for a few boat units for the pump, plus float, 3-way switch, hose and thru hull.

I don't see how my bilge could ever be dry, but I don't know for sure because I can't really make out the bottom. It looked dry over the weekend?
