We are about to replace our manual SL 555 windlass with an electric one
We have pretty much settled on a Lofrans Tigres, but are open to suggestions on that
Key questions
We visualise simple foot control on the foredeck. Is this the most practical?
There are obvious potential advantages in controls at the helm, but are they worth the extra cost and work of running all that wiring. And the increased complexity of troubleshooting when things go wrong?
Are radio remote controls any good?
Lofrans state in their installation manual that the windlass must be isolated form the aluminum deck, yet the windlass body is electrically isolated from the power and control system. Anyone know why?
