It's always a story about North bound crossings

of the Tehuantepec. People can sit in one of the ports or coves on the north end and wait for the perfect weather report and jump across. When you are crossing North bound most people seem to leave Central America and try to make the push all the way across. Instead of leaving from Puerto Medero they leave from El Salvador or even Coasta Rica and it to far for an accurate weather report about the gulf. Puerto Medero had a bad reputation with a lot of fees and paperwork so people like to bypass it, go to far off shore to cut the distance down and get beat up. The other thing with Puerto Medero is that people leave from the north and motor across the gulf in perfect weather. Then they get off Puerto Medero and realize they are short on fuel and pull in. The problem is the had already cleared out of the country and get pissed when the Port Captain makes them clear back in prior to getting fuel. They get mad and don't realize, or don't want to realize that when you clear out of a country you can't just pop back in to pick up some fuel. The people get all upset and leave Mexico with a bad attitude and pass that along to North bound boat who end up getting beat up in the gulf. I don't get it but there you go.
