Well, went back to the yard, told them what I thought, and they
did the emergency haul. yard jockey kept insisting it was a problem
not caused by him. Since I can see all 32 of 35 inches of stern tube
from the inside, I was pretty sure he caused the issue when replacing the
cutlass bearing. Insisted we needed to pull the new bearing to see in the
tube. then we could see a scar from a saw blade. got a third opinion,
and then patched and glassed up the tube. the yard owner jumped right
in and covered the expenses so we didn't get the expected argument.
his only comment was that he heard there may be other leeks, probably
hoping to charge me. well, I was vindicated on launch. and now, 18 hours
later, not a drop. the admiral is happy. yea, guess I am too.
