J35's are pretty high performance boats. I think they're lacking as good cruisers(I had a friend with one). Unless he's not all that racing performance oriented, the J40 is a logical choice. But Max, you would be the better judge for him if he plans on doing what you're doing these days. I don't know if a J40 is a good choice for that.
