Our house was built in the 1950s and the original copper plumbing looks brand new. At some point, maybe about 20 years ago (we've been here 10), the previous owners put in a half bath and some other bits and pieces. The solder joints in the "new" pipes are all green and I've had to patch or fudge numerous pinholes in the pipes. Sometimes I use a piece of truck inner tube and a hose clamp, other times a whole section of Pex (or similar).
The house itself is cement block, so it's not showing too many signs of rot
As for boats . . . I don't think the current IKEA furniture can hold a candle to the old "built" interiors as on the Gulfstars, etc.
