You have identified the fundamental problem with asking for advice on an internet forum. Fortunately we all seem to be saying the same thing, but that is rarely the case.

So how does an OP decide who is right: reputation, ie similar questions where the poster's advice is accepted by others; the preponderance of the responses- very risky sometimes; or just gut. I don't know, I use all three.
