At least not here in Maine. Back in 1960 $3 an hour wasn't bad money for a craftsman. Here on Mount Desert Island skilled boat workers make $18-$25 depending on who they work for. The high end of that range is about equal to $3 in 1960. If anything labor may actually cost a bit less. I know very skilled independent contractors here that charge $25, which is about the local going rate. Jobs with benefits here have hourly rates at the lower end of the scale.
