No contest! The Pogo 30 takes it! The Mainecat has a single large daggerboard but mini bilge keels P/S. The rig is not optimized for windward work. 38-42 degrees apparent were/are the norm for the 30 and 41. But riding under the hardtop whilst the kids play on their tablets, well, everyone will be much more comfortable on the Mainecat 30.

Now, the 38 will give the Pogo a run for her money (I hope!). Waterline, of course, but better foils, better rig and finer hulls should all make things better. The first reports I've heard of the new 38 were 32 degrees apparent to windward at 11 kts in 25-30 with a double reefed main. That apparent wind angle is impressive to me if it was consistent and the helmsman wasn't pinching...

In general, while cruising cats may not be as fast as a racer type, they are close with the added value of comfort. Don't undervalue comfort.
