The apparent angle of attack isn't the relative course made good with leeway.

I don't think it has additonal "dagger boards" or fins.

By the way, though I know it's a lot, at $130 K for a competitive fun boat with three cabins....

As for the appartent win of a Maine Cat -- I'm not sure that there isn't some drift as it starts to point higher. I could "stall" our Pearson 35, Sabre 42, and even our J/Boat at apparent wind. When, in the Sabre and the J/Boat, I check the Course Over Ground vs. the Magnetic, you can see the drift.

Having said all of this. On a reach, the Maine Cat, like the NonSuch, and other cab boats are really AMAZINGLY good performers. Don't take my comments as derogatory. I remember fondly our Pearson 35 (Hull #473) and some very nice sails on it. There are Pearsons that pointed and performed a lot better (the 10M, which had too few made; and the 30 were better performers. The big grip with the Pearsons 35's and the others is that you had to "change down" the headsail or it really became overpowered quickly.
