The Piezo starters are not the best invention to incorporate into a design -with the idea- they will never fail. My last two boat appliances with Piezo starters were a Force 10 grill and cabin heater. Both starters failed early on (if they ever worked) but the lighting was easy so nobody cared. There's something about a "snap,...snap,....snap-BOOM!!!" concept that's troubling.
That aside, this grill performs well. It does stay lit in some wind which is probably more important. Once lit, I never had to re-light. The good parts are the top can't fly off (in wind or ignition), the regulator goes very low flame and the mount is terrific. It's easy to take on and off(so we do), and we can locate it outside the cockpit over the aft deck. Plus it saves CNG which is now nearly $100 per bottle.
