One of the features of the rig we use is that the tension on the strap between the bottom slide (locked in) and the gooseneck, remains constant. So when I douse the mainsail for the night, the reef stays in; I just furl the working area above the reef. Obviously, if I want the full sail the next day, I simply release the strap and the reef line and haul away. Preferring to "unreef up" than to "reef down," we often leave the reefs tucked in overnight.
