I hit a steel bouy in broad daylight GOBI

AND I KNEW IT WAS THERE! Not proud of that..... decksweeper genoa, current swept us off heading, and we were entertaining with 6 people in the cockpit (including self) and I didn't keep a constant watch on the buoy while on AP.

I realized it when the bouy was about 10 feet from impact. That oh-shit moment was a very long few seconds. That was years ago in my prior boat. Now when I'm not manually steering I use a pager sized timer that clips on my belt and vibrates every 2 minutes, as a reminder to check behind the genoa.
