I got it because it takes input from an AIS receiver and my Icom GPS died.
As a GPS it is a poor unit compared to the Icom. The Icom had many features that I miss. Like a keypad input for waypoint names. I dislike having to scroll through the alphabet to input a name. It also had many features, like it's Micrologic Admiral predecessor that are lacking in most GPSs.
I do not have chart chips for it - my cruising range is too big to afford all the maps I would need. It feeds a PC for chart plotter software.
Having said that. It is cheap, basic, and it works. The built in world chart isn't bad but is useless for navigation. I like the small size.
I still miss my Icom GP270ML.
