I believe the input ports are somewhat limited, so how would you get a GPS signal into the device? (there is USB available through a special connector at the bottom)
It is pretty much a web browser that needs some form of wireless support to work...
as the admiral put it... "it would be great for browsing from bed." Frankly, I think that is it's only appeal.
Had Apple designed a few more I/O type interfaces into it such as IR, the iPad could have been used as a giant remote control... rather expensive, but if you've priced smart remotes you'd know the iPad is relatively cheap in that market.
As a reader, it lacks the eInk advantages of easy on the eyes reading, but then, it is color.
