Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

I can see your choice Larry and can also see younger people drawn to multis for performance.

The simple fact to me is from the younger people I know, they just aren't as interested in the same aspects of sailing that propelled the industry for the last several decades. Now that it's pretty much dead both due to the economy and lack of interest in the sport as the industry knows it, it's a good time to see some different design ideas out there like the Presto 30 and the smaller multis that could be(?) less expensive.

New boats were rarely purchased by young people and that won't be any different today. An old guy bought my present boat when it was new and I suspect that's the case for many if not most of the boats we own on this board. That still drives most of the newer designs.

They were just as expensive new way back then as they are today. But they'll get old fast, they always do. You can get some bargains on slightly aged J boats today.

Still, some trends in boat design I find quite interesting these days. I'm enjoying it.

So will your kids be multi sailors? Will my kids be multi sailors? Time will tell.
