We've had two sailboats which came with fully battened mains and don't have that rig.
In Response To: Not a dumb thought. It's "standard" with boats that have full-batten mainsails ()

Our current J/Boat has about an 900 SF main. -- one high tech line. It's already a hoist of about over 60' from where the sail is connected above the boom in the dropped position. I wouldn't want any more line coiled above the companionway :^)
