Some clever designer could improve on this idea
In Response To: Another simple option that works in many conditions ()
After thinking about my set up, it occurred to me that you could add enough material to extend the material maybe a foot aft of the hatch, then pull it aft and tie it off to help it hold its shape. Then you could leave the hatch open in almost any condition (assuming you're at anchor, facing the wind).
When I get a chance I'll post a pic of what I have, and perhaps see if this improvement has any merit.
