The shaft continues 30" beyond the top of the rudder
In Response To: Paul, how does the rudder stock attach to the rest of the steering? ()
It goes through a stuffing box, the quadrant and then through a bearing ending just below the cockpit sole. There is a deckplate in the sole to allow access for fitting the emergency tiller if needed.
