We cut our vacation short by a few days last summer to get the boat tucked in for Irene, but fortunately she weakened and only hit us with TS force.

As for transportation, we'd probably get a one-way car rental because we'll have the dog, and although he's comfortable in a crate we wouldn't want to put him through flying in a cargo hold. We also have sons in Boston (with a car) if we needed "rescue".
