and if at least one of them could be trusted as being "captain" while I sleep, then in "delivery mode" (assuming were are willing to maintain our engine cruising speed of 8 knots as a minimum) we could get near the CCC in the first 24 hours, and get to Maine in the second 24.
I know what you mean about overnight sailing. Being on the water at night is very special, and at times "magical". I think it's very cool when the boat produces a bio-luminescent trail.
My main concern about motoring at night is the trap lines, and debris is less of a concern but still in the back of my mind even when sailing. Last September after Irene it was amazing how much "stuff" we saw floating -- some of which would have been large enough to easily hole the boat and stop us dead in the water.
