wouldn't matter to me, as long as it can be gotten overboard quickly. I've

saved my ass twice by being able to deploy an anchor very fast. Once with a fast incoming tide, a bridge we had just gotten under and was now closed, and a diesel running out of fuel (THAT was due to me own stupidity) I got the boat stopped about 20 feet away from the bridge, looking up at a very big eyed bridge tender who was trying to clear traffic and re-raise the bridge.

So if it's easy to get overboard, in an emergency, in the well should be fine.
