When we are on the mooring the anchor is almost always in the anchor locker, especially if "leaving" the boat for more than a few hours.. It's a Rocna so I now prefer to hide it rather than advertise for that company, but that's another story. The anchor locker works well for non-Rocna advertising...
Anchors can cause mooring pendant chafe, so to minimize that risk, it is stowed out of the way..
When underway the anchor is generally on the roller. It takes me about 30 seconds to get it from anchor locker to bow roller so I don't find I actually "need" it there but still feel more comfortable with it on the roller when underway as that extra 30 seconds could be handy in an emergency...
But, back on the mooring it is stowed so it can't chafe my mooring pendants..
