What matters most is whether the anchor can be released quickly and whether the RODE will run out smoothly. If you keep the rode in a bucket or well and loaded so it's LIFO (last-in-first-out, without any extra crap on top to interfere) everything should be fine. If you have extra crap in the well like hoses/scrub brushes/buckets/fenders/floats or a second rode, those things should be partitioned so they're fully separated and can't interfere with the loops and coils of the rode you need to deploy.
If you don't have a windlass, it's also important to deploy hand-over-hand or let it slide out -- never throwing out coils of rope. This may be stating the obvious to most of us but I can't count how many times I've seen experienced boaters (especially small-boat fishermen) do this.
