Stay outside the reef in Belize and don't go to the Honduran mainland
In Response To: Hate to bring this up, but... ()

Stay outside the reef in Belize (Lighthouse reef & Turneffe) and turn your AIS to receive only as if the authorities see your signal they'll hail you in (If you don't want to check into the country,$$$$). If you go nowhere in Belize stop at Lighthouse & Half Moon Caye. Spend the night and weave your way to the 'Blue Hole', incredible. We were there on a full moon. The sky was black and the sand under the boat was white (Weird) Keep away from the Honduras mainland staying in the Bay Islands. We went to the mainland and were in the anchorage where the cruiser was killed. Only stopped there to take shelter from an approaching hurricane. Wouldn't do it again after the stories I'm hearing.

Rod,,,, if you get a chance, stop by 'Banco Chinchorro' just a days sail south of Cosmel on the way to Belize. Incredible place, 20 miles offshore, no land in sight and only 9 feet deep on the West (sheltered) side. You can also go inside at the North end and say hi to the Marines. It's a national park and a good place to stop for the night before moving on. Check it out.

Bla Bla Bla!. Third cup of coffee and time to get out of bed.
