The bicycle route is actually more direct... due to the layout of direct bike paths verses "loops" I have to take when driving. of course I can't carry the typical load of stuff to the boat that I often take when "messing around" on the boat. Yesterday for instance it was new can of varnish, two rechargeable batteries for the detail sander, and the charger, as well as rags, brushes and buckets...
The bicycle is more fun, and easily also allows access to a local brewpub near the marina (reward).
Typically I am at the boat at least one day a week, more often when it is warmer and the days are longer... less often when the job requires long nights and weekends.
As I look around the dock where I keep my boat, there are about 6-8 folks that I see on a regular basis... their boats are used and maintained. There are several boats that appear to have not been visited for at least 6 months. (the "dust" is thick).
In my wildest dreams, I would love to be able to bike to the boat in under 10 minutes...
