I understand your position and respectfully disagree. Although it's Zen and in most circumstance's not an issue,,, when the shit hits the fan (I've been there) I want 'information'. I can't get it from my senses as sleep depravation, fatigue and a "holy shit, I don't like this!" situation make my senses unsteady.
On the other hand,,, in non threatening situations, I would rather turn the darn things off and I would agree with you.
