That was me. I got the impression from Dan if his Wind instrument has saved his bacon so to speak,.

he's using it as his main source of info about wind speed and direction. I have no problem with that(for him), but I don't feel it's not prudent to be sailing at night without one.

And I agree on the windex, that's one reason I don't use them anymore(besides replacing them continually). I use spinnaker material on the shrouds about 6' high. Those are in my sight line and I've come to prefer them. I like to hear people are happy and getting good use out of their wind speed/direction instruments. Interesting responses.

What I conveyed to Genes question was, in my experience, I wouldn't put another one on my boat.
