We all know that it's a buyer's market for boats, both power and sail. I'm amazed, though, at how inexpensively one can buy a good boat and go cruising. This is especially true of 60's and 70's cruisers. Most people who buy cruisers buy dock queens, boats with spacious interiors but unsuited to blue water cruising. You see these people at boat shows, standing in line to see the latest HunterBeneLina. They don't walk the decks, they don't look to see if there's adequate storage for fenders and dock lines. They dive down below, look at the size of the kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms, and then get in line for the next one.
A fella here in Brunswick Georgia bought a new boat. His old one is a Tartan 30, a fine little pocket cruiser. Yep, it's 40 years old and shows its age, but it's a fine little boat for a single hander or a a couple. The price? Asking $7k. I think that's amazing.
