I believe the T30 sold new for mid to high 20s - depending.. I bought mine 15 years old for a price in the low 20s - Admiral refused to pay more for a boat than we paid for our house (that we still live in). The boat will celebrate it's 40th birthday next year - birthday party anyone?? I, too, have noticed the low selling prices of these boats, and can't explain it. It may be because of deferred maintenance (which can certainly be expensive to correct), but not having seen any of the boats, I can't comment. Does this mean than one not needing maintenance would still sell in the 20s? Somehow, I doubt it.
My thought on what is happening is that the 'budget' boater is being priced out of the market by the cost of keeping a boat. Dockage and insurance are becoming bigger factors than the actual cost of the boat. The cost of a mechanic or an electrician to do work (when you can find one) has also gone up.
So, the budget boater is now a person who has water access and can keep a boat on a mooring, plus has the ability to do their own maintenance and upgrades. I wonder how many of these folks exist? If less than the number of 'budget boats', it becomes a buyers market.
I'm sure I'm not the only one on this BB with a 40ish boat - any other thoughts???
