"Got a good idea? Don't do it!"
Actually, I had these sixteen foot long sheets of plywood kicking around for nearly fifteen years. Trail of thought went a bit like this: Like to have shanty boat...but....Columbia and other waters I like are too rough for a barge style shanty boat....so.....combination of two aspects combined with the thought that if I had a wood boat I could show it at wooden boat festivals...and, well, you can see what happened........I hired a numbnuts, as it turned out, to build the hull/deck/cabin to a completed exterior, unpainted. Little did I know mo' fo', c@#$%r, s.o.b. would begin cutting corners before the hull was even turned over....and so on. It just got worse, I ended up either having to sue the bastard or pay him off and take my boat home to finish it myself. I did the latter and the rest is history, eh?
I undid a bunch of his imcompetent work, redid it properly, and have gone on from there. I'm gimpy, slow but unreliable, and didn't want to have a boat project in my backyard in a temp structure for years but........
I'm hacking away at it for spring launch, 2013....if I can get my tuchus in gear each day and git'er done.
