I looked at several. In fact, any quality 30'er was priced around mid 20's and I suspect they sold in the low 20's. I would guess that was close to their new price 15+ years before. That's a downward trend when you take inflation into account. But now, 20 years later, wow! The curve has fallen like a rock on these 40 year old boats. There are exceptions(like your boat) for sought after designs that are well maintained, but a Tartan 30 is a pretty good baseline for the used boat market.
A boat is a sum of it's parts(right?), and many parts on these boats are at the end of their lives. Sure the hull is still sound(decks on the other hand,...). But, engines, winches, rigging(spars, running, etc), have all gone up in replacement cost(even if you do your own work). Taking a list of a few of the big items to a boatyard for an estimate(most boat shoppers are not DIY repower types), and the dream of a like new used boat, goes south. I think this exercise only shows buyers, the newest best maintained boats are the best value right now.
But mostly, I think it is the market, it's abysmal right now. What is the future of this vast 40 year old used boat market, that's what I wonder?
