It's not that I haven't been there and done that. But to be truthful, our intention was to spend the winter in Georgia to finish the cosmetics on the boat and then head south, probably to the west coast of Florida. But the dream of building a little off grid place in the Adirondacks is a more powerful pull to us right now.
I know most people have a hard time believing this, but money means squat to me. I just don't care about it. Never have. I had a 3,500 square foot commercial building in upstate NY appraised at a bit over $100k. A church approached me a couple of years ago and wanted to buy it for a soup kitchen. They could only afford to pay $50k for it. I sold it to them with 10% down and I hold a mortgage on the balance. I feel good about that.
I'd love to sell Drift Away to someone with a big dream but short on money, and who knows how to swing a paint brush. I'd love to read the blog of that person cruising down to the islands while I'm sitting in front of my wood stove on a snowy Adirondack morning. Nothing would make me happier.
And again, if it doesn't sell, I'll just keep it as a winter getaway. Drift Away is a great boat and needs nothing but cosmetic work at this point.
