This would be considered a project boat today(not this sister ship in the photo). Fully functioning, sound, "sailaway" boat. It needs work, cosmetics, has an A4(keep if it works), will need sails, electronics etc, when he wants to add them. Probably most of the boats on the market today are these "project boats".
The aquaintance is a working boat designer and was looking for a classic plastic with these lines, a style he loves(me too, I think Rhodes Swiftsure 33 is a real classic). He's young though, a working guy, and can only afford so much boat.
Heavy lay up, nice traditional layout with 2 pilots(he has two little kids, perfect) and working deck and cockpit design, 33 feet of real sailboat....4 k. That's a lot of boat.
