Actually, if you're going to screw it down and use regular caulk material for decking....

..Ipe' might not be too bad IF you really de-oil it well first. Acetoning just 1/2" wide twenty Ipe took turning the cloth in short distances, lots of acetone, more than one cloth per piece, etc. I really think it's oilier than Teak. But it is decking material on some expensive homes..but then so is mahogany. I dunno. How about a "walk on" test piece for your bath mat for your outside shower where you bathe and walk on daily and it is exposed to the elements as well. It would be just like in the sand showers in Hawaii. Surely in Maine that should be doable.
