Where do you sailors mount your radar/CP?

My old radar is acting up. I am seriously considering the Lowrance broadband / HDS system that Larry, Todd and others have described here. I like the close-in detail, instant-on, and low power draw. This would draw me into the chart plotter world, which I've not really used much besides a Garmin GPSmap that I was given.

I've always had the radar below at the nav station, but perhaps the radar/cp is better mounted above deck. It doesn't make much sense to have my wife checking the radar below instead of being out on deck with me in thick fog.

I don't want get into a repeater/ 2nd unit, as I am not comfortable with the cost and complexity of too many gadgets. I was planning to stick with Ipads and the like for electronic charting but the broadband only displays on a chart plotter.

So the question is, if you only have a single display for cp and radar, where's the best place to mount it? Nav station, companionway, or on a pedestal at the helm?
