The one before the 3G came out. It works well up to about 6 or 8 miles, OK for large targets up to about 10 miles, and not much further. I agree it's GREAT close in. It does not see rain as well as standard radar.
As a coastal sailor I think it's quite good. Most of my focus is under 2 miles, and I rarely zoom out past 4 mile range. Most of the time I have cellular broadband Internet, and can see NWS Doppler weather radar online. If I was crossing oceans and wanted it to warn of ships or rain squalls 20 miles away at night, it would not be suitable.
